Vivo Apex to come with a pop-up selfie camera and on-screen Finger Print Scanner

Tech giant Vivo might have just achieved a breakthrough in technology with the Vivo Apex. An incredible smartphone with 91% screen to body ratio, the highest in the world so far.

That’s not all, the Apex smartphone has a pop-up selfie camera and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Vivo is definitely setting the pace here, and showing other smartphone powerhouses how what innovation is all about. Without further ado, meet the Vivo Apex Concept phone.

DESIGN

Beautiful both in and out, sporting an Aluminum Alloy body and covered in glass. The Vivo logo is visible at the bottom corner with no fingerprint scanner in sight. There’s also an iPhone X-like dual vertical rear camera at the top left with dual-LED flash.

Vivo Apex Price

The Apex smartphone sports a 3.5mm jack and a pop-up selfie camera at the top. Underneath, there’s a loudspeaker and USB charging port, it measures just 7.8mm slim, weighs 185g and available in the only black at the moment.

DISPLAY

A bezel-less beauty boasting of the world’s highest screen-to-body ratio ever on a smartphone. The screen boasts of 91% screen to body ratio and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The bottom corner of the screen can be used as a fingerprint sensor.

Vivo Apex

Sporting super minimal bezels, the 5.99-inch QHD+ OLED capacitive touchscreen is stunning. Boasting of 1080 x 2160 pixels in resolution and 403 pixels per inch density. Dishing out an 18:9 aspect ratio with a true FullView experience.

HARDWARE and SOFTWARE

The device houses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip with 8-cores of a processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The Octa-core processor reaches a clock speed of 2.8 GHz with 10nm process technology for a smooth ride. In terms of graphics, the Adreno 630 graphics processor is fully in charge.

There are two versions, in terms of RAM and internal storage, there’s one with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. A cheaper variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The RAM on both versions reaches a memory speed of 1866 MHz, while the storage space is upgradeable up to 256GB. The Apex runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with modified UI.

CAMERA

At the back, the dual rear 24MP + 8MP camera captures 4K resolution images. The cameras come with a dual-LED flash and other features ready to take photographs with 4320 x 2880 pixels in resolution.

Vivo Apex Price

The pop-up 8MP selfie camera is simply breathtaking. According to Vivo, the camera pops-up in 0.8 seconds when you switch to selfie mode and goes back inside when you switch to the main camera.

The Vivo Apex is powered by a Non-Removable Li-Po 4000mAh battery with fast charging technology.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

Vivo Apex will be available for about $599 to $699 from April, that’s about (N200,000 – N270,000).
