We have all been Fooled : Lenovo Z5 Review

Lenovo Z5 has been launched in China, the device was quite a trend on the internet the past couple of days. Although previous renders and leaks suggests the Z5 will come with an “all screen” display with up to 4 terabytes of storage, it turns out to be all lies. We were all fooled.

Well, this has sparked some debate online because the Lenovo Z5 came with a notch and a bottom chin. Internally, it houses the Snapdragon 636, there’s 6GB of RAM, 64GB/128GB storage and dual rear camera with AI capabilities. Let’s find out more.

Lenovo Z5 Key Specs and Features

・6.2-inch FHD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 1080 x 2246 pixels
・Android 8.0 Oreo with 6GB RAM
・Octa-core 1.8GHz Qualcomm SDM636 Snapdragon 636
・128GB/64GB built-in storage
・16MP + 8MP rear camera and 8MP front camera
・3300mAh non-removable Li-Ion Battery

The Z5 sports an aluminium alloy overall unibody that’s absolutely stunning and breathtaking. This can be attributed to the glass at the back, which reflects light in the most subtle way. It also has a gradient colour option called Aurora, which is amazing.

At the top left corner, the dual rear camera is vertically placed and flows with the current trend. The fingerprint scanner is at the usual position for quick access. Turning over to the sides, it measures 7.9mm in thickness and weighs 165g overall. Apart from the gradient colour, it’s also available in Black and Blue.

It comes with a notched screen, which is really disappointing after all the hype. However, the notch seems to be much smaller than most notch we’ve seen, even the one on the Mi 8. The notch houses the usual features as expected, while the bottom chin is just there.

The device was built around a 6.2-inch FHD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen which will bring out your games and videos nicely. It has 1080 x 2246 pixels in resolution and 402 pixels per inch density for clear visuals. The screen stretches up to 83.6% screen-to-body ratio.

The Lenovo Z5 is powered by the Snapdragon 636 from Qualcomm with a clocking speed of 1.8GHz built on the 14nm process technology. Taking charge of graphics is the Adreno 509 graphics processor.

Be ready to launch your favourite heavy apps and multitask through them all with 6GB of RAM. For storage, there are two options to choose from, one with 128GB and another cheaper variant with 64GB space. You have to choose carefully because you can’t upgrade further. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with ZUI 4.0.

Explore your photography options with the dual 16MP + 8MP shooters which takes amazing photographs even in low light environments. It features phase detection autofocus, dual-LED dual-tone flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama. While the 8MP selfie camera handles all your selfies.

The Lenovo Z5 is powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 3300mAh battery with fast charging technology.
