Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 launched at MWC Barcelona with 5G connectivity, powered with a novel chipset — as the phone maker had promised. Donovan Sung, who is the company’s director of product management, broke the news at Palau de Congressos. The device will go with the name, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G, and will feature the most recent Snapdragon 855 chipset.
To bring gigabit speeds into fruition, the chipset is integrated with Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 modem. Christiano Amon, President of this American chip company, said that the phone’s 5G connectivity isn’t about faster graphics, adding that it’ll provide entirely new experiences to Xiaomi customers and fans.

Apart from the latest chipset and modem, this device is exactly the same Mi Mix 3 handset as that unveiled in China last year October. The unveiled smartphone has a 6.39-inch AMOLED screen, ceramic body, slider mechanism, dual rear camera setup (12 MP + 12 MP), and 2 secondary selfie cameras (a 24-MP major camera and a 2-MP one for depth sensor).
Owing to the fact the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G runs on a new chipset, with pristine CPU & GPU, its price is soaring. A unit of the phone, in either Sapphire Blue or Onyx Black with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage, will set you back by €599, instead of €500.
According to Sung, the latest iteration will be made available by May on Mi.com, select Mi Stores as well as key retailers. Also, the Chinese company is entering 5G partnerships with a number of telcos, including Three, Sunrise, Orange, Vodafone, Telefonica, TIM, with others soon to be agreed upon.
