Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is the latest instalment in the Mi Mix line and a successor to the previous Mi Mix 2 and Mi Mix 2s Smartphone. The new device from Xiaomi brings along a whole new design which features the slider which leads to an impressive screen to body ratio. The OnePlus 6T which is a worthy contender is also fresh and brings a lot of new improvements over its predecessor – the OnePlus 6. Let’s see which smartphone company wins this and makes for a good buy.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Vs Oneplus 6T – Design & Display

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display with no notch, thanks to the slider that houses the front-facing camera while the OnePlus 6T has a bigger 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display with a minimal water drop notch. Both devices have the same screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19:9 aspect ratio and a Corning Gorilla Glass on top for screen protection. Pixel per inch density stands at 403 for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and 402 for OnePlus 6T. The front and back of the OnePlus 6T are made of Glass with aluminium frames all around. The Mi Mix 3 also has a glass front but paired with a ceramic back and an aluminium frame (7000 series).

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 weighs 218 grams, measures 8.5mm thick and has a dual Nano SIM slot. OnePlus 6T, on the other hand, weighs 185 grams, measures at 8.2mm thickness and also has a dual Nano SIM slot. Colour options for the OnePlus 6T are limited to Mirror Black and Midnight Black while the Mi Mix 3 has a lot of colour options to choose from which includes Jade Green, Sapphire Blue, Onyx Black and a special forbidden City Blue colour for the limited 10GB RAM version.

In the Software & Hardware department, the specifications are pretty much the same. Both phones are powered by the same Snapdragon 845 processor which clocks speeds of up to 2.8GHz and an Adreno 630 GPU. The Xiaomi Mix 3 has two configurations – 6GB or 8GB of RAM which is paired with 128GB of internal storage and another with 8GB or 10GB of RAM which is paired with a bigger 256GB of internal storage. OnePlus 6T on the other hand also has two configurations of 6GB RAM paired with 128GB of internal Storage and another of 8GB RAM paired with 256GB of internal storage.

Both devices are rocking the Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with MIUI 10 skin on top for the Mi Mix 3 and Oxygen OS on top for the OnePlus 6T.

At the back, the Mi Mix 3 has a dual camera setup, one of which is the 12MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture and a secondary 12MP camera with LED Flash. At the front is also a dual camera of 24MP + 2MP camera hidden in the slider. OnePlus 6T also features a dual rear camera, one of which is 16MP camera with f/1.7 aperture while the other is a 20MP (16MP effective) with f/1.7 aperture. There is also a Dual-LED flash for low light photos. For selfies, there’s a single 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture.

Powering the Mi Mix 3 is a 3200mAh battery with support for Quick 4.0+ while the OnePlus 6T has a bigger 3700mAh and uses their proprietary 20W Dash Charge. Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, 4G LTE, USB Type-C and USB On The Go are all available on both devices.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Vs Oneplus 6T – Price & Conclusion

The Mi Mix 3 costs $475 to $575 depending on the configurations while the OnePlus 6T goes for $549 for the base version of 6GB/128GB and as high as $650 for the 8GB/256GB. Both devices offer somewhat the same specs for almost the same price it all boils down to the little details like a better camera (Mi Mix 3) or Bigger battery (OnePlus 6T) just to name a few.
