Xiaomi Redmi 8 debuts with Snapdragon 439 SoC & 5,000 mAh battery

Redmi are back into the market with the Redmi 8. The phone debuts just two weeks after the Redmi 8A was introduced.

The Redmi 8 has a body build of glass with Aura mirror design from Xiaomi. The display features IPS LCD panel with waterdrop notch, FHD+ resolution and measures 6.22-inch in size. The notch is home to an 8MP selfie camera.

The main dual-camera setup consists of a 12MP f/1.8 Sony IMX363 sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The 12MP Sony sensor features a dual PD and 1.4μm sized pixels. Below this camera setup at the back is a fingerprint reader.

Inside the Redmi 8 is Snapdragon 439 SoC, this is chipset we saw on the Redmi 8A two weeks ago. The RAM and ROM size is upped on the Redmi 8. It comes with a 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM or a 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM.

Battery-wise, the Redmi 8 is equipped with a 5,000 mAh juice and supports 18W fast battery charging. But you’ll only get a 10W fast charger out of the box. So you’ll need to purchase the 18W charger separately. Other notable features of the Redmi 8 includes P2i splash protection, IR blaster, 3.5mm headphone jack and wireless FM radio.

The Redmi 8 will be available for purchase in Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue and Onyx Black body colours from October 12th on Mi.com. The base (3/32GB) model has a starting price of $112. While the 4/64GB model will cost $126.
