Design & Display
Both the Redmi 9A and 9C has a similar body build design which is very expected. There is no fingerprint reader at the back and their rear camera is different. On the Redmi 9C, we have a square-shaped camera module housing three cameras while on the Redmi 9A, is a rectangular shaped module featuring a single camera. They both measure the same 9mm in thickness. In terms of weight, the Redmi 9C weighs 196 grams while the Redmi 9A weighs 194 grams. The Redmi 9C comes in Midnight Gray, Sunrise Orange, and Twilight Blue body colours. Whereas the Redmi 9A comes in Granite Gray, Peacock Green, and Sky Blue colours.
The display is exactly the same on both Redmi phones. The screen measures 6.53-inch with an 81.1% screen-to-body ratio. The IPS LCD display features a 720 x 1600 pixels’ resolution, 269 pixels per inch density and 20:9 aspect ratio.
Hardware and Software
Inside the Xiaomi Redmi 9C is a MediaTek Helio G35 chip with 2.3GHz Octa-core processor and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU clocking at 680 MHz. For the Redmi 9A, it features a MediaTek Helio G25 chip with 2.0 Octa-core processor and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU clocked at 650 MHz. Both chipset are built on a 12nm manufacturing process tech. The memory configuration option for the Redmi 9C is 2/32GB and 3/64GB while the Redmi 9A has only the 2/32GB option. Software-wise, both Redmi budget phones run on MIUI 12 skin based on Android 10 OS.
Camera
The Xiaomi Redmi 9C has the better overall camera specs here. Its rear module consists of a 13MP f/.1.8 main lens with PDAF, a 5MP f/2.4 macro lens and a 2MP f/2.4 depth lens. While on the Redmi 9A, there is only the 13MP f/1.8 camera with PDAF. Despite having just one rear camera, the Redmi 9A is capable of shooting 1080p at 30fps just like the Redmi 9C. In the selfie department, they both sport the same 5MP f/2.2 camera with HDR housed inside the waterdrop notch of the display.
Battery
Both the Xiaomi Redmi 9C and Redmi 9A packs the same non-removable Li-Po 5,000 mAh battery capacity. This is great but considering it only supports a 10W charging, you’ll have a hard time filling up the battery to full charge.
