Design and Display

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra comes in a sleek classic body build design to tribute the company’s 10 years of innovation and craftsmanship. The frame is made of aluminium while its front is covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and the back features ceramic. The smartphone weighs 222 grams and measures 162.4 x 75.1 x 9.5 mm in dimensions. It is available in three body colours – Obsidian Black, Transparent Edition and Mercury Silver. The Transparent edition’s decoration features an outline of the phone’s interior components.

Hardware and Software

This smartphone has flagship configuration all across the board in the hardware department. It is powered by a Snapdragon 865 chipset which is paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It has four memory configuration options – 8/128GB, 8/256GB, 12/256GB and 16/512GB. The Xiaomi phone features a vapour chamber cooling system to enable and sustain a stable performance. It is also important to note that the device broke AnTuTu’s benchmark record with its 660,000 points.

Even though it is not ideally a ‘gaming smartphone’, it can perform at an elite level in gaming with a host of gaming features being incorporated into the phone such as the GameTurbo 4.0. On the software end of things, we have the usual Android 10 operating system with MIUI 12 custom skin on top.

Camera

The rear quad camera setup on the Mi 10 Ultra is quite impressive. The main camera is a 48MP f/1.9 Sony IMX586 main sensor with 120x AI super zoom, 8K videos, and a pixel size up to 1.2μm which can be enhanced to reach 2.4μm with four-in-one pixel binning. The second camera is a 48MP f/4.1 periscope telephoto sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) greatly reduces image blurring, 8K recording, 5x optical and 120x hybrid zoom.

The third camera features a 20MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens with flagship 128° Field of View and 12mm equivalent focal length. Finally, the fourth camera sports a 12MP f/2.0 telephoto sensor for portrait and supports 2x optical zoom with 50mm focal length. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra’s camera is currently ranked #1 at DxOMark with a score of 130 points. Inside the display’s punch-hole is a single 20MP f/2.3 camera with HDR for taking selfies.

Battery  

The Xiaomi phone packs the latest generation of the company’s Mi Turbo charge technology. Coincidentally it happens to be the industry first as it supports 120W fast wired charging, 10W reverse wireless charging and 50W wireless charging. This allows the 4,500 mAh battery capacity to reach 100% in just 23 minutes and 41% in just 5 minutes.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Price and Availability

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra will be available in China on August 16. The pricing is as follows – CNY5,299/$760 for the 8/128GB base model, CNY5,599/$805 for 8/256GB model, CNY5,999/$865 for 12/256GB model and CNY6,999/$1005 for the top-spec 16/512GB model. Nothing was said about the international market and its availability but we expect Xiaomi to launch the device on there soon. As far as Nigeria is concerned, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra will cost around N290,000 and will be available on Jumia Nigeria.
