Xiaomi Redmi K30 and K30 5G Debuts with 64MP Quad camera & 6.67″ 120Hz display

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has unveiled the successor of the Redmi K20. The company today launched the Redmi K30 along with a 5G variant – Redmi K30 5G. There are very few differences between the two newly released smartphones.

The IPS LCD punch-hole display features 120Hz refresh rate, 1080p resolution and HDR10. Protecting the display is Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

One of the main difference here is the chipset. The Redmi K30 5G is powered by Snapdragon 765G SoC. This will be the first time we’ll witness the chipset in a smartphone. The chip is also responsible for its 5G connectivity, which is the first time a Redmi device will support the network. Powering the Redmi K30 is the Snapdragon 730 SoC.

Both device comes in four memory variants; 6/64GB, 6/128GB, 8/128GB 8GB, and 8/256GB. In terms of software, they run on MIUI 11 based on Android 10 operating system.

Redmi K30 and K30 5G

In the camera department, the Redmi K30 5G sports a four-camera module consisting of a 64 MP Sony IMX686 sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide sensor with 120° field of view, 5 MP macro and 2 MP sensors. The Redmi K30 replaces the 5MP macro camera with a lower 2MP macro camera. Inside the punch-hole display is a dual selfie camera. It is a combination of a 20 MP wide sensor and 2 MP depth sensor.

Battery lovers will not be disappointed with both phones as they pack a 4,500 mAh capacity. The Redmi K30 supports a 27W fast charging while the K30 5G supports a slightly better 30W fast charging. Body colour options of the Redmi K30 is Blue, Red, Purple. The Redmi K30 5G adds a white body colour option to make it four.

The Redmi K30 is scheduled to go on sale in China on December 12 while the K30 5G will be available from January 2020. No words yet concerning other markets/regions.

The 6GB/64GB model costs $230/€205 for the Redmi K30 and $285/€255 for the Redmi K30 5G.

For the 6GB/128GB model, it will be available at $240/€220 for the Redmi K30 and $325/€295 for the Redmi K30 5G. The 8GB/128GB will set buyers back at $270/€245 for the Redmi K30 and $370/€335 for the Redmi K30 5G.

Finally, it’s the 8GB/256GB model coming in at $310/€280 for the Redmi K30 and $410/€370 for the Redmi K30 5G.
