Xiaomi Smart Home Products finally arrives the US

Xiaomi is known globally for their smartphone series, but that’s not only what the company is all about. The company also has an in-house IoT ecosystem and produces other tech-related products like TV, speakers, TV boxes, Laptops and lots more. All thanks to the booming startup industry in China, which the company is taking advantage of and showing the world how it’s done.

Xiaomi has lots of smart home products, like the Mi Bedside Lamp, Mi LED Smart Bulb and Mi Smart Plug. All these products have been available in Asia for quite some time, and they’ve finally made their way into the US. This is according to Xiaomi co-founder Wang Xiang who bragged about the expansion on his Twitter account. This is coming weeks after the US banned ZTE from acquiring any equipment made in the US for their smartphones.

However, the United States market is already familiar with the Xiaomi brand, even though the company’s phones are yet to reach the country. But products like Mi Power Bank Pro, Mi Home Security Camera, and the Mi Electric Scooter are all currently available on Amazon for US residents. The new smart home products boast Google Assistant support, which the US is also familiar with.

We also noticed Wang Xiang made the announcement after the Google I/O 2018 conference that took place earlier this week. One of the smart home products is the Mi Bedside Lamp which can be configured in 16 million colours. There’s a touch-sensitive panel on top, which you can configure with the Mi Home app and control with your voice.

While the LED Smart Bulb is pretty much a Bulb that’s smart, you can use your voice or phone to turn it on/off. You can also tell it the colours you need depending on the mood you’re in. The Mi Smart Plug gives other non-smart appliances life, literally. It uses a Wi-Fi on/off switch to do the trick. The prices of the smart home products are not yet available on the US section of mi.com but should be listed by the end of May. For what it’s worth, the Mi Bedside Lamp costs CNY249 in China, which is about $40, while LED light bulbs should go for about $20.
