Canalys, a leading technology market analyst company has released its first Quarter African smartphone market share report for 2018 and according to the report, Samsung African smartphone market share has grown with huge 42% year over year. However, Chinese brands under the TRANSSION HOLDINGS, TECNO, Infinix and iTel still maintain a huge share as far as Q1 in 2018 is concerned.
According to the report, TECNO shipped a total of 2.8 million smartphones in Q1 2018, while iTel and Infinix shipped 2.0 million and 1.0 million smartphones respectively. The total combined smartphone shipment for TRANSSION HOLDINGS now stands at 5.8 million against 3.4 million for SAMSUNG.

Collectively, TECNO, iTel and Infinix, which are all sub-brands of Transsion Holdings, controls over 38% smartphone market share in Q1 2018, compared to 23% of Samsung.
Looking at the top 5 smartphone Vendors in Africa, Huawei which maintains number 4th position shipped the same number of smartphones in Q1 2018 when compared to Q1 2017.
To be honest with you, these smartphone companies are really making serious waves across the globe with Tecno is also making a great impact.
