Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max Could Have Narrowest Bezels Ever

In what could mark a significant design evolution, Apple may be poised to reduce further the bezels on its upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models. This comes from a recent leak on the Chinese social media platform Weibo.

A Weibo user, Setsuna Digital, has claimed that the bezels on these new models could shrink by up to 40%. This reduction would enhance the screen-to-body ratio, providing users with an even more immersive display experience. The rumor aligns with previous reports indicating that Apple plans to equip the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max with larger displays, measuring 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively.

According to Setsuna Digital, the iPhone 16 Pro Max could feature bezels as thin as 1.15mm, while the iPhone 16 Pro might have bezels measuring 1.20mm. These dimensions would surpass the current minimal bezels found on smartphones, setting a new benchmark in the industry.

Although Setsuna Digital is not a widely known source, the leak gains credibility as it has been corroborated by Ice Universe, a reputable leaker. Ice Universe confirmed that the iPhone 16 Pro would have bezels thinner than those of the upcoming Galaxy S24, potentially making it the smartphone with the “narrowest bezels in the world.” The leaker even provided a mockup render to illustrate the anticipated design changes.

While the specifics of how Apple intends to achieve such a feat remain undisclosed, speculation suggests the use of a “Border Reduction Structure” technology. This innovation could be key to making the dramatically thinner bezels a reality.

It remains unclear whether this advancement will lead to a price increase for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, considering the potential costs associated with developing and implementing this cutting-edge technology.
