G9 is a mid-range smartphone from BLU which comes with some pretty interesting specs for the money. BLU G9 is rocking a 6.3-inch display with a notch, a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset for all the computing and a 4,000mAh battery keeping the lights on.

BLU G9 Design And Display

BLU G9 has a pretty standard design for a mid-range device with a plastic back and a glass front on top of the display. Speaking of the display, it is a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display and it isn’t FHD+, just HD+ (720 x 1520) with a 267ppi.

The display is notched and in that waterdrop notch hides the front-facing camera, leaving the small but visible chin down at the bottom. At the back, of the device is the dual rear cameras, an LED flash and a finger sensor for biometric unlock.

Regardless of the 4,000mAh battery inside this device, it still weighs just 16grams and measures just 8mm in thickness. Colour options available for this device are just Blue and Black. The Blue colour gives off a gradient feel as it fades into black towards the bottom.

BLU G9 Camera Review

In the camera section, we have a dual-camera setup at the back and one at the front. The rear camera comprises of a 13MP main sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and PDAF alongside a secondary 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots.

It also has an LED flash and can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. Another 13MP camera also sits at the front in the notch with an f/2.0 aperture just like the main sensor at the back. Also, you can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps as well.

Hardware and Software

BLU G9 is equipped with a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset. This chipset is based on the 12nm process technology with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz with a PowerVR GE8320 as its GPU. It has 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage as its only configuration option.

Storage here is expandable via the MicroSD card slot which lets you add an extra 128GB of storage. It runs the not so latest Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with BLU’s skin slapped on top as expected. It is also a dual micro-SIM phone.

Battery and Connectivity

This device is a decent 4,000mAh battery on the inside with no word from BLU if fast charging is supported or not. What it does come with is a USB Type-C port through which you can charge the battery.

Other Connectivities available on the BLU G9 includes 4G LTE connectivity, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct, GPS, FM radio, a 3.5mm jack and Bluetooth. No NFC here.
