Coolpad Cool 3 Announced, Specs and Price

CoolPad just released a new smartphone; Cool 3 which is a successor to the cool 2. The new smartphone, just like its predecessor is also a budget smartphone but boasts of some pretty decent specifications. With a starting price of just $85, it brings a lot to the table. These include a 5.71-inch display with a notch, 4G LTE connectivity, dual rear camera setup, a fingerprint sensor and runs Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. Let’s dive a little deeper into its specs.

CoolPad Cool 3 has an HD+ 5.71-inch display with a 1520 x 720 screen resolution and a 295ppi. Aspect ratio stands at 19:9 with a water drop notch cut out for the single front-facing camera and a little bit of chin at the bottom. At the back is a dual camera set up at the top left corner of the device with an LED flash at the middle. The fingerprint sensor sits comfortably at its usual spot at the centre with the Coolpad name settings towards the bottom left side of the device. This device is made of plastic + metal and comes with three colour options which are Midnight Blue, Ruby Black, Ocean Indigo and Teal Green.

Coolpad Cool 3 Camera Review

The rear camera is a combination of the main 8MP shooter with an f/2.2 aperture and a secondary 0.3MP camera. It has a dual-LED flash for low light shots and can also record 1080p videos at 30fps. The selfie camera, on the other hand, is a single 5MP camera with an f/2.4 aperture which can also be used for Face Unlock.

Coolpad Cool 3 Hardware and Software

Coolpad cool 3 is powered by an entry-level Unisoc (Formerly Spreadtrum) chipset which has an octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. There is also 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. Storage space is expandable via the onboard MicroSD card slot, up to 128GB. This device runs the latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box with Coolpad’s UI on top.

Battery & Network Connectivity

Keeping the lights on the Coolpad cool 3 turned on its a 3,000mAh battery with no fast charging support. It also has 4G LTE connectivity including VoLTE, Bluetooth, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, GPS, 3.5mm jack and a microUSB port with support for USB On The Go.
