For the first time ever, Infinix Mobility released two generations of the Hot series in a single year. In January 2019, the company released the Infinix Hot 7. And after nine months, they came out with its successor – the Infinix Hot 8.
With such a short window/gap in their release, am sure you must be wondering if there are any changes or upgrades whatsoever.

Infinix Hot 8 Vs Infinix Hot 7-The Design
The Hot 8 comes with the trending waterdrop notch as opposed to the rectangular/regular notch featured on the Hot 7. They both have a rear-mounted fingerprint reader and the camera module is arranged in the same way.
The body build is the usual front glass with polycarbonate unibody and aurora shining finish. The Hot 8 is thicker and heavier, much of which has to do with its huge battery capacity. It measures 8.7mm thick and weighs 179 grams. While the Infinix Hot 7 measures 8 mm thick and weighs 166 grams.
The Display
Infinix Mobility increased the display size, which is just about it here. The display of the Hot 7 measures 6.2 inches while that of Hot 8 measures 6.52 inches. Both displays feature 720p resolution.
The different notch design means they both got different aspect ratio. The Infinix Hot comes with a 20:9 aspect ratio. Whereas, the Hot 7 comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
Camera
On the Infinix Hot 7, we have a 13MP main sensor and a QVGA (Quarter Video Graphics Array) low-light sensor. While the Infinix Hot 8 retains both sensors and added a third 2MP depth sensor. The Hot 8 also comes with a Quad-LED flash compared to a single LED flash on the Hot 7.
More flashlight means the camera is able to pick images and objects at a faraway distance.
So the Infinix Hot 8 got a win here. But you should also know that with that much flashlight, your battery will drain pretty fast. The selfie camera is the same on the two Hot phones; an 8MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture and a single LED flash.
Hardware and Software
Underneath the Infinix Hot 7 is MediaTek 6580 chipset with a Quad-Core processor clocking at 1.3GHz. Whereas, the Infinix Hot 8 comes with a MediaTek Helio A22 chipset with a Quad-Core processor clocking at 2.0GHz.
The Infinix Hot 7 runs on Android 8 Oreo out of the box, which is way outdated at this point. While we have the Infinix Hot 8 running on Android 9 Pie. As usual, you get Infinix’s XOS UI slapped on top of the Android operating system.
The Infinix Hot 7 is available in 1GB/16GB and 2GB/32GB memory options. The 1GB/16GB variants run on the Go edition of Android Oreo. For the Infinix Hot 8, it comes in two memory options; 2GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB.
Battery
Battery life is upgraded here. A 4,000 mAh battery juice powers the Infinix Hot 7. While the Infinix Hot 8 comes with a bigger 5,000 mAh battery juice. Still, no fast charging support on both phone. I wonder how Infinix expects us to charge a 5,000 mAh battery without fast charging. It will literally take more than 2 hours to get to 100%.
Price & Verdict
The Infinix Hot 8 (2GB/32GB) retails at around N36,500 while the Hot 7 (2GB/32GB) goes for around N32,500. The difference in price is just around N4,000, for that, I say take the Infinix Hot 8. It has a bigger battery, newer software, better camera and Quad-Core processor with better clocking speed. Surely, all this improvement is worth the extra N4,000.
