Infinix Hot 8 Vs TECNO Spark 4 Specs and Price Comparison

The Infinix Hot 8 is the eighth generation of Infinix’s hot series. The smartphone is the sequel to the Hot 7 we saw last year. Today, we’ll be pitching the Hot 8 with another budget device – Tecno Spark 4.

The Spark 4 is among the trio of Spark phones released by Tecno in 2019. The other two are Spark Go and Spark 4 Air. If you’re in a dilemma between the Infinix Hot 8 vs Tecno Spark 4, this article will be of great help in making the right choice as we look into their design, display, camera, hardware, software and battery specs.

Infinix Hot 8 Vs TECNO Spark 4-Design

Infinix Hot 8 Vs Spark 4

The Infinix Hot 8 and Tecno Spark 4 has an identical body build. They both come in a waterdrop notch front display with a plastic unibody. They feature a triple camera module aligned at the top left corner at back in a vertical position. At the top middle is a fingerprint reader. The positioning of their respective brand name is different though. On Hot 8, the Infinix brand name is below its fingerprint reader. While on the Spark 4, the Tecno brand name is at the bottom left in a vertical position.

The Infinix Hot 8 is available in the following body colours; Quetzal Cyan, Cosmic Purple, Shark Grey, and Midnight Black. Whereas, the Tecno Spark 4 comes in three body colours; Royal Purple, Majestic Purple and Vacation Blue. In terms of dimensions and weight, the Hot 8 measures 165 x 76.3 x 8.7 mm and weighs 179 grams. While the Spark 4 measures 165.28 x 75.9 x 8.2 mm and weighs 168 grams.

The display specs are even on both phones. We have an IPS LCD panel which measures 6.52 inches in size. The display features 720 x 1600 pixels resolution, 269 PPI density, and 20:9 aspect ratio and is protected by a 2.5D curved glass.

Camera

The camera department also sees no difference between both phones at least on paper. The triple camera module at the back is home to a 13MP main sensor, a 2MP depth sensor, a low-light (QVGA) sensor and a Quad-LED flash. The camera setup can record 1080p videos at 30 frames per second. At the front, both phones sport an 8MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash.

Hardware and Software

Powering the Tecno Spark 4 is the MediaTek Helio A22 SoC paired with 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM. The same chipset powers the 2GB/3GB variant of the Infinix Hot 8. While the 4GB/64GB variant of the Hot 8 comes with MediaTek Helio P22 SoC which is not available in Nigeria

For the Nigerian market, we’ll be getting only the 2GB/32GB variant for both smartphones. Software-wise, both smartphones run on Android 9 Pie with different user interfaces. The Hot 8 comes with Infinix’s XOS UI while the Spark 4 has Tecno’s HiOS UI.

Battery

The battery is kind of like the only difference between the Infinix Hot 8 and Tecno Spark 4. We have a 5,000 mAh battery juice on the Hot 8. While the Spark 4 comes with a 4,000 mAh battery juice. None of the devices supports fast charging, which means charging will take longer hours.

Also, while the Spark 4 supports the Glo 4G band 28, Infinix Hot 8 does not which might be a deal-breaker for Glo users

Price & Verdict

The 2GB/32GB model of the Tecno Spark 4 costs around N34,500. Whereas, the same 2GB/32GB memory on the Infinix Hot 8 goes for around N36,500.

The thing is, the Infinix Hot 8 has an extra 1,000 mAh battery more than the Spark 4 while the Spark 4 supports Glo 4G band 28.

From the analysis of the specs above, you’re better off buying the cheaper Tecno Spark 4. It is a better device here and even the 5,000 mAh battery on the Hot 8 without fast charging is more of a nightmare than a dream.
