We have all been waiting for iPhones to come with USB-C charging ports. Recent images suggest that the iPhone 15 and the next Gen AirPods might come with USB C charging ports. It’s a welcome idea, but some rumors suggest that the USB C port won’t be compatible with Android USB C cables.
The move makes it look like iPhone, and Android phones will use the same cable. And that will make it convenient for users to use a single USB-C charging cable. According to reports from Mobile China News, Apple decided to switch to a USB-C charging interface due to pressure from the European Union. The European Union has mandated that all electronics sold in the EU use the Type-C charging port from 2024. If the application doesn’t comply, they won’t be able to ship iPhones to Europe by 2024.
The New iPhone USB C might not be Compatible with Android.

Apple has stuck to its proprietary lightning charging method for a while despite it not being as good as USB C. It has also been why users have to carry multiple charging cables around since most brands have already adapted the USB-C charging standards.
Switching to USB C was inevitable for Apple at some point. It was only a matter of when. Now that many rumors are concluding that we might see a USB C port on the iPhone 15 pro, there is a drawback. Significant concerns are that their USB-C charging port might not be compatible with Android. They might create a data barrier for users who use multiple devices.
Apple claims they care about the environment, but lack of compatibility will mean otherwise. They removed chargers from the box to cut down on the size of electronic waste globally. There is also the need to use sustainable charging standards on electronic devices to reduce e-waste.
We can’t confirm this, but we will see how apple will approach this in the coming months. The adoption of USB C is undoubtedly a positive one from Apple, but making it universal and compatible with Android will even be better. It will promote sustainable practices and reduce e-waste that apple claim to be fighting.
