Towards the last Quarter of the year 2018, most smartphone manufacturers ran an experiment on the slider mechanism and punch hole displays. Some manufacturers used the notch bandwagon to reduce the size of the top bezel. There is no proof yet if the Korean manufacturer LG will stop the use of the display notch on its upcoming G8 ThinQ but according to rumours online – the company is experimenting with “sound on display” technology. The release of the LG G8 Thin Q first CAD renders shows that the rumour might be true.
Looking at the specifications, the LG G8 ThinQ will boast dual rear cameras that are aligned horizontally like the LG V40 ThinQ, unlike the LG G7 ThinQ. As of now, we are yet to know the sensors that LG will pack in the device but we will be shocked if they ditch their signature on super – wide range lens
There is LED flash and finger print scanner on the rear of the G8. But we can’t see the under – display finger print scanner in the device which might give Samsung Galaxy S10 an edge in the market. The ThinQ branding logo is seen on what seems to be a metal body just below the finger print scanner
A quick look at the front of the device shows that the edges of the device is curved. We don’t have a clear view of the top of the device but with the earlier information revealed about the device, it shows that the G8 will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack and single bottom – firing speaker at the bottom. Talking about the camera, we zoomed the image to see what LG is offering . There is the tendency that the phone does not have the primary front facing camera and ear piece speaker. But for now , we are not sure about the other sensors that is in the notch.
The device has a 6.1 – inch display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 with a dimension of 152 x 72 x 8.4mm. The V40 ThinQ has a dimension of 158.8 x 75.7 x 7.6 mm while the G7 ThinQ has a dimension of 153.2 x 71.9 x 7.9 mm. Looking at the dimension of the three devices, you will see that the G8 will be shorter than the V40 and G7.
LG recently announced that they will be launching a 5G smartphone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset with a battery capacity of 4,000mAh but information from ETNews reveals that it will not be the G8.
LG is expected to hold a press conference at MWC 2019 so we are hoping to hear more about the device during the event. Also, LG is going to hold its event on February 24 which is another opportunity for us to hear more about the device. What do you think?
