MediaTek Announces the Dimensity 7200 Chipset, a 4nm Processor Built for Midrange Phones

MediaTek announced the Dimensity 7200, its latest chipset aimed at midrange phones. It is based on a 4nm process, almost the same configuration as the Dimensity 9200. The chipset offers 5G support, battery efficiency, and game optimization.

It is an Octa-core CPU with two ARM Cortex-A715 performance cores clocked at 2.8GHz, and six Cortex-A510 efficiency cores. The Dimensity 7200 is ahead of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 in raw performance using stats from a Geekbench test.

It can support up to 200MP primary camera because it’s using MediaTeks Imagiq 765 and a 14-bit HDR ISP. The chipset can also capture 4K HDR video with dual capture at 1080p while using all-pixel autofocus. It uses motion-compensated noise reduction for low light.

The chipset comes with MediaTeks APU that enhances battery consumption and helps with computational photography. It also comes with MediaTeks HyperEngine 5.0, which uses AI-based Variable Rate Shading for power saving.

The MediaTek 7200 also supports sub-6GHz 5G with 2CC carrier aggregation and Theoretical download speeds of up to 4.7Gpbs. It also supports dual 5G SIM and dual VoNR. The chipset has Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E to complete the package.

The chipset also supports RAM speed up to 6400Mbps and UFS 3.1 storage. It is expected that phones using the chipset will be released in China before the end of the first quarter of 2023.
