Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are the most significant trends in tech this year. Barely three months into the year, various tech companies are working on AI projects. The competition from ChatGPT has made Microsoft announce a new AI-powered Bing and Google announce Bard, their new AI model, to the public.
In a similar vein, Meta also announced that they are looking to Integrate AI into their services WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger. Mark Zuckerberg, Chairman of Meta Platforms and founder of Facebook, announced in a post on Facebook. He stated that they are creating a top-level generative AU to turbocharge their work in the industry. In the statement, he also stated that over the long term, they intend to focus on developing “AI Personas” that can help people in different ways.
The statement also clarified that AI could enter WhatsApp and Messenger. Mark said, “ we are exploring experiences with text (like chat in messenger and WhatsApp) with images like creative Instagram filters and ad formats, and with video and multi-modal experiences.
Bloomberg added that Ahmad Al-Dahle, a machine learning, and artificial intelligence expert, will lead the AI team at Meta. He reports to Meta’s chief product officer Chris Cox. This is a significant sign that the company wants to integrate AI into its online services and products.
They also admitted that they are still in the growth stage with AI, as they have a lot of foundational work to do before getting futuristic experiences with AI. Mark also stated that he is excited about all the new things Meta will build along the way.
