Samsung has hosted its second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, revealing a range of new products including the sixth-generation Galaxy Z foldable, the Watch Series 7, and the eagerly anticipated Galaxy Ring. The highlight of the event was the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which succeeded last year’s Z Fold 5 with a host of incremental upgrades and a refined design.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a more angular design and a new pill-shaped camera island on the rear panel. When folded, the device measures 153.5mm x 68.1mm x 12.1mm and 153.5mm x 132.6mm x 5.6mm when unfolded. It weighs 239 grams, a reduction from its predecessor’s 253 grams. The phone boasts IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, and Samsung claims it is the most durable Z-series device to date, thanks to enhanced Armor Aluminium and Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The foldable device is equipped with a 7.6-inch internal display and a 6.3-inch external screen, both featuring dynamic AMOLED 2x panels with a 120Hz refresh rate. The internal display offers a resolution of 2160 x 1856 pixels, while the external screen has a resolution of 2376 x 968 pixels. The front display now sports a slightly taller aspect ratio with thinner bezels.
In terms of photography, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 includes a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10MP telephoto unit with 3x zoom. The external screen is equipped with a 10MP selfie camera, while the internal display features a 4MP sensor. The device supports 8K video recording and includes features such as Photo Assist, Portrait Studio, and Insta Slow-mo.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor clocked at 3.39GHz, along with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The device includes Ray Tracing for graphics and is powered by a 4,400mAh battery with 25W charging capability. It also has an updated cooling system for better heat dissipation. The phone runs Android 14 and has Galaxy AI features such as Note Assist, Sketch to Image, and a fully integrated Gemini app. The Z Fold 6 is also eligible for 7 years of OS upgrades and security fixes, the same as the S24 series.
A USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port, WiFi-6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and UWB are all available connectivity choices.
Samsung Galaxy ZFold 6 Pricing and Availability
Pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 begin today, with sales scheduled to start on July 24. The device is available in Silver Shadow, Pink, and Navy colors. Pricing starts at $1,899 for the 12GB + 256GB variant, with the 12GB + 512GB and 12GB + 1TB configurations priced at $2,019 and $2,259, respectively.
