The cancellation of the 2020’s Mobile World Congress has led to many smartphone companies come up with a secondary plan for the launch of the products. Sony Mobile had to put together an online event to launch its newest flagship phone – Xperia 1 II (Xperia One Mark Two).
During the launch, the company confirmed that they are developing what is called a professional tool for video makers – “Xperia Pro”.
Sony Xperia 1 II
The device features an impressive 4K HDR OLED display panel that measures 6.5-inch with a 21:9 cinematic ratio. Instead of the normal high refresh rate, the company elected to go for the Motion Blur Reduction. According to them, it matches the benefits of the 90Hz refresh rate.
The rear camera module of the Xperia 1 II packs three 12MP cameras. The main camera is an Exmor sensor with Dual PDAF, OIS and f/1.7 aperture. The ultrawide camera comes with an f/2.2 aperture, a 16mm equivalent focal length and 1/2.6″ sensor with Dual-PD AF. While the telephoto camera features an f/2.4 aperture, OIS and PDAF. The camera is calibrated by ZEISS. Selfies is possible with an 8MP front-facing camera sitting at the top bezel.
The Xperia 1 II is powered by Snapdragon 865 chip with 5G modem, which works on sub-6 GHz networks. The chipset is laced with an 8GB RAM alongside 256GB UFS storage. Running inside the device is Android 10 operating system. It comes with IP65/IP68 water and dust protection rating.
Battery-wise, it packs a 4,000 mAh capacity and supports wireless charging. At the right side of the phone is a fingerprint sensor. The phone will be available in the European market from the late spring of 2020 in Purple and Black body colours. Its starting price is yet to be announced.
Sony Xperia Pro
This professional tool is still in development, so its specs and features are sketchy right now. So far, it will have the same display and camera setup as the Xperia 1 II. The storage size will be a huge 512GB. There will be a customizable shortcut key on its side. This key will be used to launch/open any app in an instant. The Xperia Pro will feature HDMI port and will also have seamless integration with Sony Alpha cameras. The professional tool has a unique 4-way 5G mmWave antenna arrangement. This antenna has the capability to broadcast up to 5Gbps or faster.
