TECNO Camon 15 Pro Vs Phantom 9-Specs and Price

In this article, we will be comparing the Tecno Camon 15 Pro to the Tecno Phantom 9, both of which are the latest in their respective series. Both smartphones also have similar specifications and features however, one comes out on top.

Let’s take a closer look at what each device brings to the table and how they stack up against each other. Without further ado, let’s get started.

Design & Display

Tecno Camon 15 Pro is rocking a bigger 6.53-inch display while the Tecno Phantom 9 has a slightly smaller 6.39-inch display, both of which are IPS LCD displays with an FHD+ (1080p) resolution. Tecno Phantom 9 uses the infamous waterdrop notch to house its front-facing camera while the Tecno Camon 15 Pro has a pop-up compartment housing its own, leaving the screen with no notch or punch-hole.

At the back of the Tecno Phantom 9 lies the triple camera set-up while the Tecno Camon 15 Pro has an extra one making it four. Both smartphone cameras are equipped with an LED flash. Tecno Phantom 9 weigh 164grams while the Camon 15 Pro with s slightly bigger battery weighs a little bit above 170grams.

The back of both devices here as well as the frame are made of plastic while a slab of glass protects the display. Tecno Phantom 9 has just one colour; Lapland Aurora. Tecno Camon 15 Pro, on the other hand, has two colours; Ice Jadeite and Opal White.

Hardware & Software

Both the Tecno 15 Pro and the Tecno Phantom 9 have an Helio P35 SoC from Mediatek. This Chipset has an octa-core processor clocking speeds of up to 2.3GHz paired with a PowerVR GE8320 GPU for gaming. Furthermore, they both also have 6GB of RAM for multitasking through apps and 128GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 256GB via the dedicated microSD card slot.

Tecno Camon 15 Pro runs the latest Android 10 out of the box with Tecno’s HiOS 6.0 Skin Slapped on top. Tecno Phantom 9, on the other hand, runs the older Android 9.0 Pie, also slapped with Tecno’s HiOS Skin.

Camera, Battery & Connectivity

Tecno Camon 15 Pro has a total of five cameras, four of which are at the rear. The rear camera consists of a 48MP main sensor, a 5MP ultra wide-angle sensor and two 2MP sensors. It is also equipped with a dual-LED flash, and HDR and can shoot 1080p or 720p videos at 30fps. As for the selfies, it has a 32MP front-facing camera housed by a pop mechanism and equipped with HDR and FaceID. It can also shoot 1080p videos at 30fps too.

Tecno Phantom 9, on the other hand, has a total of four cameras, 3 of which are at the rear. The ones at the rear are made up of a 16MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP depth sensor camera for portrait shots. It can also shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. Similar to the Tecno Camon 15 Pro, this also has a 32MP front-facing camera, this time in a notch, with HDR and 1080p video recording capabilities at 30fps.

Inside the Tecno Camon, 15 Pro is a 4,000mAh battery while the Phantom 9 has 500mAh less at 3,500mAh. However, both can comfortably get you through the day on moderate usage without needing a refill. No word on fast charging for both devices.

Speaking of charging, they both have a micro USB port for that. They both also have 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, WiFi hotspot and of course, the dated 3.5mm jack.

TECNO Camon 15 Pro Vs Phantom 9 – Price & Verdict

Tecno Camon 15 Pro is the obvious winner here, no thanks to its bigger battery, extra camera and clean minimalistic design. Both devices cost the same, starting at N65,000 so the price isn’t an issue.

However, Tecno Camon 15 Pro has a moving part which may or may not be an issue for some. if you don’t like the pop-up camera on the Tecno Camon 15 Pro, you can opt for the Phantom 9 and won’t miss much.
