Vivo NEX S Launched with Truly Bezel-less display, Snapdragon 845 and On-screen Fingerprint Scanner

Vivo NEX S is now official, after countless renders and rumours. The NEX S brought the Apex dream to reality, with the notch totally gone and bottom chin almost invisible. If you’re looking for a bezel-less and notch-less smartphone then the NEX S should be your device of choice.

Now, where is the selfie camera? The NEX S houses a pop-up selfie camera, the camera is hidden on top of the device and only pops out when you’re ready to take a selfie. It has 8GB RAM and a fingerprint scanner on the screen. The screen is also the speaker, something Vivo calls the ‘Screen SoundCasting Technology’.

Vivo NEX S Key Specs and Features

・6.59-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 1080 x 2316 pixels
・Android 8.1 Oreo with 8GB RAM
・Octa-core 2.7GHz Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845
・128GB/256GB built-in storage

Vivo went all out when creating this flagship beast and it absolutely showed on its body. It sports an aluminium alloy body with curved sides and edges providing a nice grip. It also sports a dedicated hardware button on the side, just like Samsung’s Bixby, Vivo calls it Jovi.

When you press the button, you can ask Jovi for help, it can launch apps for you, identify images and other things. The rear cameras are also vertical at the top left corner with the dual-LED flash coming underneath. It measures 8mm in thickness and weighs an astonishing 199g overall. Disappointingly, it will be available in only Black and Red colours.

There’s no notch, no bezels, just you and the screen with the NEX S smartphone. It features a 19.3:9 aspect ratio screen which supports fingerprint reader. Just touch an area on the lower part of the screen to unlock the device. Looking for the speaker? The Screen SoundCasting Technology brings out all the sound from the screen.

This unique smartphone is built around a gigantic 6.59-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. This Ultra FullView Display boasts of 1080 x 2316 pixels in resolution and 388 pixels per inch density, which is incredibly brilliant. The screen stretches up to 91.2% screen to body ratio as well.

The NEX S houses the Snapdragon 845 flagship chipset from Qualcomm, it’s built on a 10nm process technology. The chip comes with an Octa-core processor which clocks at a fast speed of 2.7GHz, while the Adreno 630 graphics card controls the graphics department.

A massive 8GB of RAM is available on this powerful beasts, this should be more than enough for gamers to multitask through their heavy games. There are two variants in terms of storage, a standard version with 128GB and an expensive variant that comes with 256GB. They are not expandable, so you have to choose wisely. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Funtouch OS 4.

One of the highlights of the device is pop-up dust resistant 8MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The camera automatically pops up when you switch to selfie mode and lowers back when you switch to the main camera. Vivo kept it simple in the rear camera department, it has a 12MP shooter with f/1.8 aperture, 1/2.5″ sensor size, 1.4µm pixel size and Dual Pixel PDAF.

The Vivo NEX S is powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 4000mAh battery with fast charging technology.

  1. Truly, you are to me the best reviewer of the Vivo NEX phone. I have read countless reviews and have done web searches to find out where the speaker is embedded. For the first time, someone (you) just pointed out where the speaker is and the technology behind it! Thanks mahn? for quenching my thirst!!
