Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite was also introduced as a new addition to the Mi 8 family. The Mi 8 Lite focuses on breaching the gap between the Mi 8 SE and Mi 8. The device will also be known as Mi 8X or Mi 8 Youth in some regions.

It’s totally different from its siblings, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 660 chipset. It sports a much taller 6.26-inch FHD+ display and a crystal clear 24MP selfie camera, making it a selfie-focused device.

Design And Display

The Mi 8 Lite has the standard aluminium alloy body and rear fingerprint scanner. This should provide quick access to the device and perfect if you don’t like the Face Unlock saga.

It’s the gradient season quite alright as the Mi 8 Lite is available in Twilight gold, Dream blue and Deep space grey colours. All with a touch of gradient double colours. It measures 7.5mm in thickness and weighs 169g.

The Lite version has the thinnest notch ever on a Mi 8 device. The notch houses just the selfie camera and speaker grille. Furthermore, there’s a little bottom chin available as well. It’s built around a tall 6.26-inch FHD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels and 403 pixels per inch density for clear visuals. The screen also stretches up to 82.5% screen-to-body ratio.

Hardware and Software

Xiaomi adopted the Snapdragon 660 chipset from Qualcomm for the Lite version. It comes with its 14nm process technology, alongside an octa-core processor with a clock speed of up to 2.2GHz. In the graphics department, the Adreno 512 takes charge.

There are two variants in terms of RAM space and storage, there’s one with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage and a cheaper variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 10 on top.

Camera, Network And Connectivity

There’s an AI-powered dual 12MP + 5MP shooters mounted at the rear with f/1.9 + f/2.0 aperture and 1.4µm + 1.12µm pixel size respectively. While the 24MP selfie shooter has f/2.0 aperture with 0.9µm pixel size.

The Mi 8 Lite supports 4G LTE connectivity and accommodates dual Nano SIMs. It also has support for Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type C, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot and A-GPS, GLONASS.

Battery, Price And Availability

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite is powered by a non-removable 3350mAh battery with fast charging technology. Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite will be available on shopping stores, starting from $249 to $299, that’s about (N85,000 – N100,000).
