Xiaomi has launched the Mi 9 Pro, six months after the debut of the Mi 9. The Pro version will be looking to have similar success in the market as the base version.
The device sport the same display configuration as the Mi 9. It comes with a 6.39″ Super AMOLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and features DCI-P3 and HDR10.
Camera-wise, there isn’t any change either. The Mi 9 Pro triple rear camera comprises of a 48MP (wide), 12MP (telephoto) and 16MP (ultrawide) sensors. The front-facing camera features a 20MP sensor.
Inside the Mi 9 Pro is the latest flagship SoC from Qualcomm – Snapdragon 855+. The chip is paired with an 8GB or 12GB of RAM along with 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of storage.
Mi 9 Pro 5G
The Mi 9 Pro 5G is powered by Snapdragon X50 5G modem which includes 7-antenna 5G bands for enhanced signal reception.
According to Xiaomi, the device is able to achieve download speeds of up to 2.02Gbps (lab) and 1.78Gbps (field test), which is 10x faster than Mi 9.
The main or key difference between the Mi 9 and Mi 9 Pro is in the battery department. Not only does the Mi 9 Pro features a 4,000 mAh (which is 700 mAh increase), it comes with an improved fast charging technology of 45W. The wireless charging is now up to 30W. Also, the phone supports 10W reverse wireless charging, making it the first Xiaomi phone with such a feature.
The base model of Mi 9 Pro which is 8/128GB will cost CNY3,699/$520/€473 and price goes up higher for more RAM or storage space. The device will be available in just two body colour options; Dream White and Titanium Black.
Connectivity-wise, the Mi 9 Pro will be available in 4G and 5G variants. The 5G version is expected to be out by October 31st. Pre-order starts today for the 4G option, while sales and shipments are scheduled to begin in seven days time. The first 100 pre-orders will be shipped in three days time.
